Lachine, Que. November 2, 2021 – Lagoon Seafood, leaders in fresh and frozen seafood, announced today that the 12th Annual Golf fundraiser in support of L’Association de la Colonie de vacances de Granby has raised a total of more than $24,000 in support of children facing health or other challenges in the region. Held September 14th at Chateau-Bromont Golf Club, the event was attended by more than 150 persons from the business community including local civic leaders, representatives from Le Centre hospitalier de Granby and its partners and 5 persons from Lagoon Seafood.

“There are few things more exhilarating than a group of people that cares for others – be it at work or in the broader community,” said Michael Cheaib, honorary president of the 2021 golf event and business resource manager at Lagoon Seafood. “I wish to congratulate and thank Jennifer Ross, president of L’Association de la Colonie de vacances de Granby, the sponsors, volunteers and all of the participants for taking the time to help children in need. Even in the face of remaining pandemic restrictions, we were able to attract an incredible group of caring people who inspire us to do even more next year.”

In 2020, close to 100 children were able to participate in day camps thanks to the Youth Program of Granby’s Hospital Foundation. This year, funds were raised to send more disadvantaged children of the region to day camps or summer camps where they can participate in a variety of stimulating activities, contributing to their physical and social development and well-being.

“We are extremely happy with the results from our pandemic tournament,” said Jennifer Ross, president of L’Association de la Colonie de vacances de Granby. “The support we received from Lagoon Seafood, Gaz Propane Rainville, as well as other sponsors and participants was tremendous. We should be able to assist at least 150 ill or underprivileged kids enjoy time at camp in 2022.”

This is the 2nd year that Lagoon Seafood participates in the event. Next year’s event is scheduled for August 16, 2022 at the Chateau-Bromont Golf Club. Details will be available on the Facebook page Colonie de vacances de Granby in early April 2022.
