The Ingredients
  • 1 lb bluefin tuna at least one inch thick, cut into two steaks of equal size
  • 3 tablespoons tamari or soy sauce, or a mixture of both, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 piece ginger root (about an inch, grated)
  • 1 lime (juice and zest)
  • pepper from the mill
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds (quickly sautéed in a pan)

Steps to follow

  • STEP 01

Prepare the marinade by mixing the Tamari, oil, ginger, juice and lime zest. Put in an airtight container.

  • STEP 02

Pepper the tuna slices generously and rub the surface.

  • STEP 03

Marinate the tuna in the refrigerator for at least an hour, stirring the container occasionally so that the flesh of the fish soaks in the liquid.

  • STEP 04

Place the roasted sesame seeds on a plate. Drain the tuna and pass each slice quickly through the sesame seeds.

  • STEP 05

Heat a pan for at least two minutes and cover it with non-stick coating. Make sure it is very hot before cooking the fish. Cook the tuna for about a minute on each side, so that the flesh is grilled and the inside melts.
